If I could go back in time, I would invest more money for a higher quality rice cooker. But let me start with its good qualities, it is affordable and I really like the vegetable steaming tray.On the Negative side, this machine consistently burns rice on the bottom of the pan. It spits out the starchy water on the countertop. Its `warm' setting is too high, which burns the rice. The Teflon coating is thin and easily scratched.You can minimize the burnt rice on the bottom by adding a little more water than called for, as well as a generous portion of butter or oil. Having done that, then be prepared to pounce on it as soon as it clicks into warm mode and unplug it IMMEDIATELY, and then get the rice out of the cooker ASAP. Even with these modifications you'll get a crispy brown but not burnt layer of rice on the bottom of the pan.I expected better quality from a name brand like Hamilton Beach. Overall I am disappointed with this purchase. One of the lovely things about rice cookers is cooking the rice and coming back to it an hour later with perfectly fresh tasting rice. That is not an option with this cooker. There are a few ways to tweak the machine to minimize performance faults, however if the machine worked properly, it would not require such tweaking....This review is from: ensemble 20 Cup Rice Cooker - 37538HWe bought this at K Mart for cooking sushi rice for a party. Figured we'd try it out before it was 0 Hour for our party. THIS THING WORKS GREAT! Made sushi rice in about 20 minutes. Best bet while cooking is to add some water as needed (just like on the stove top) and I also used the paddle to move it around a couple times.
