This causes the boiling water to overflow and slightly spit. If the top had just a little more suction, it would be perfect. But looks can deceive you, i put rice in it added water, then i plugged it in and 10 minutes later i smelled burning rubber and the steamer died. I didn't expect it to be so big, so it seems funny to cook small amounts of rice (for two people). The first time I used this rice cooker, the boiling water overflowed. However, the next time it did not. It cooks rice like any other rice cooker, and for the price, I think it works just fine....
