As far as I can tell, this was actually made in Japan so QC is probably pretty good....This review is from: TIGER SMJA18U MOCHI MAKER 10CUPI was a bit worried since I was getting re-furbished item but when it came, I was pleasantly surprised how "new" the item looked. It actually makes mochi/rice-cake pretty good. I've used a few times already and am really happy about it....
