This review is from: Dr. Weil 9812 The Healthy Kitchen 5-Cup Multi-Use Rice CookerI had bought the Dr. Weil Stainless Steel rice cooker thinking it was all stainless steel including the cooking pot. I specifically did not want a teflon or non-stick cooking pot and that is exactly what this product has. I am really surpised that Dr. Weil would sell a product with a non-stick surface as this surface is known as a carcinogin and he is known as a health minded professional. I have returned this rice cooker and bought the Miracle stainless steel rice cooker with stainless steel cooking pot....This review is from: Dr. Weil 9812 The Healthy Kitchen 5-Cup Multi-Use Rice CookerThe basket that hold the rice is a fairly heavy aluminum, that has been hard anodized. While the coating looks like teflon... and due to how it makes rice, rice does not stick, it is dark grey aluminum oxide (think ruby or Sapphire). While the container is still aluminum, the coating is many times harder than any stainless would be.Not sure why, other than the color, lots of people think this has a teflon rice container. As far as cooking goes, have not used a better rice cooker, nor one easier to clean up afterwards. Nice product....This review is from: Dr. Weil 9812 The Healthy Kitchen 5-Cup Multi-Use Rice CookerIt works well initially, but then it starts boiling over and leave a huge mess, regardless of how little water we put in. It's hard to clean as well....

Aroma ARC-733G 3-Cup Rice Cooker & Food Steamer

This review is from: Aroma ARC-733G 3-Cup Rice Cooker & Food SteamerI wanted a cheap rice cooker and this fits the bill. I considered other brands but they either had poor reviews or a teflon type of coated interior. This rice cooker's pan is aluminum and while a bit of rice sticks after cooking, it is easily washed after soaking it for a time. From http://www.thecancerblog.com/2006/02/16/fdas-teflon-carcinogen-warning-getting-stronger/"In a continuing review of Teflon's safety, The Environmental Protection Agency, EPA, Science Advisory Board voted unanimously on Wednesday, February 15th, to recommend that PFOA be upgraded from the current "suggestive carcinogen" to a "likely carcinogen."Why risk it? This Aroma is more than adequate unless you need a bigger amount of rice than three cups. I only cook one cup at a time and it works great. While any rice will work, I also recommend using jasmine rice for better taste....This review is from: Aroma ARC-733G 3-Cup Rice Cooker & Food SteamerLength:: 1:07 MinsIt's a cheap, nice little rice cooker that just works. Here are some tips from the instruction manual:1. This appliance is NOT dishwasher safe. Inner pot and accessories are NOT dishwasher safe. (i.e. that stuck-on rice that happens to every rice cooker at some point? yeah, don't try using your dishwasher to get it out.)2. Always make sure the outside of the inner pot is dry prior to use. If inner cooking pot is returned when wet, it may damage this product, causing it to malfunction. Also, interestingly, it's pretty much a disposable appliance unfortunately. That is, for the fifteen bucks you buy it for here on Amazon (esp. if you have Prime shipping for free), if it breaks, you can return it to the manufacturer, but Aroma Housewares Company [...] for shipping and handling charges.I also find one other instruction particularly interesting: "Do not use the appliance for other than its intended use." Take that, Jack Bauer....This review is from: Aroma ARC-733G 3-Cup Rice Cooker & Food SteamerI like the size and convenience of this little machine. It's also really easy to whip up a small batch of rice in a short time. However, try as I might, I simply cannot figure out a way to keep the rice from scorching on the bottom. I've tried spraying the pot with non-stick spray before using it. I've also tried using more water than is called for. However, there is always at least a little bit of rice stuck to the bottom when the cooking is done. I've just decided that my regular steamer/rice cooker that I have been using for years is a better rice maker, even though it takes longer to set up and clean than this one....

This review is from: New Hamilton Beach 6 Qt. Set \'N Forget Slow Cooker Comes With A Thermometer Probe For MeatAs soon as autumn hit, cravings for comfort food also hit. But, comfort foods require long, slow cooking and because I'm unwilling to stay home watching and waiting all day, the idea of using a slow cooker seemed an excellent alternative. I have to admit that I haven't used a slow cooker since the early 70's and back then I really didn't have a clue how to properly use one, thus the meals weren't too tasty. After collecting dust for many years, I finally gave the cooker away. So, after 30 years, I began my search for the ideal "modern" slow cooker, debating about which size, what price and what features were suitable to my needs. In the 70's we didn't have so many choices - it was either harvest gold or avocado green with or without flower decoration, plus the switch was manual on, off, warm and sometimes auto. This 6 Qt. Hamilton Beach has excellent features - count-down digital timer, glass lid, removable ceramic insert, Probe/Manual/Program modes, Low/High/Warm/Off function, Automatic switchover to Warm (and stays there for 14-hrs), 3-year warranty and a 15 page instruction manual, but without recipes (English & Spanish). Amazon was selling it at a reduced price with shipping included - perfect! Amazon's price was also less expensive than what I saw in the local stores. Delivery was very prompt - I received it about 1 week after ordering. The digital programming feature is an excellent "modern" addition and well worth the extra expense. I used the probe while cooking a pot roast, but didn't find it too useful. After 5 hours the probe said the meat was cooked, which was correct, except since it was a pot roast it still required more slow cooking to break down the meat fibres - another 4 hours on Low did the trick. To add extra depth and flavour, I like to season, dredge and brown all meats, poultry or vegetables before adding to the crockery insert. It's well worth the extra time and effort. Also, be sure to reduce the cooking liquid to 2-1/2 cups, because extra liquid always accumulates by the end of the cooking cycle and you don't want the meal to taste like it's been boiled, unless you're making soup. So far, I've made barbecued pork ribs, soup with vegetable, beans, rice & ham hocks, beef stew, smoked pork picnic with veggies, chicken thighs & legs in barbecue sauce, beef pot roast with onions and veggies, pork chops in mushroom & onion gravy, beef short-ribs in a tomato-based sauce and each dish turned out perfectly and was very tasty. I've also made Chinese congee (or jook) in my smaller 3.5 qt. slow cooker with excellent results. Use your favourite recipe, but a ratio of 1-cup long-grain white rice to 10-cups chicken stock (or water) produces a good consistency - cook on Low for 10-hours. A big plus is that the slow cooker gives the opportunity to use less expensive, but tastier cuts of meat. The 6 quart size is perfect for 4 to 6 people or for 1 to 2 people with the intention of freezing leftover portions. Be aware that for the slow cooker to function properly it must be 1/2 to 2/3rds full....

This review is from: The Pampered Chef Rice Cooker PlusI'm thinking that the negative review on this product MUST be because they have something wrong with their microwave. Maybe they have it set too high. You have to lower the power to 50% to cook the rice, so maybe they forgot to do that.As for me - I will NEVER cook rice any other way again! I cook rice all the time for my family. I use brown rice in 70% of my dishes. I have a rice cooker (a good one) and I also cook it stove top. First of all, a rice cooker is one more appliance that I'd rather not own taking up space. Also, it has to sit out on the counter to cook the rice, which poses a problem if you have limited space and need to cook the rest of your meal. I have always had a problem with the electric rice cookers spitting water out and making a watery and crusty mess by the end of the cooking process. They are just a pain in my opinion. As for stove top - you all know how much of a mess THIS can make, and unless you have SUPER cookware, it never comes out quite right. Now for the Pampered Chef rice cooker. We are currently staying with a friend while our new house is being done. I went to make rice one night and my friend offered to let me use her P.C. rice cooker. I was skeptical to say the least. I mean, come on - in the microwave? In plastic? It certainly can't be any good - especially for brown rice. I am so glad to say that I was so wrong! It cooked rice like a dream!First, you put a 2:1 ratio water to rice in the cooker. Seal it up and put it in the micro on HIGH for 5 minutes. THEN you power it down to 50% and cook for 20-40 minutes depending on the type of rice you are using (standard time for any cooker). I have used this over and over and have not had one problem. the rice comes out better than you could imagine! Especially if you use broth instead of water. Clean up is a BREEZE with this. the rice does NOT stick to the bottom (like my pans and rice cooker does) and rinses out so easily. AND it's dishwasher safe! Seriously, what more could you want??? This product is amazing and Pampered Chef stands behind their products so you have nothing to lose!...This review is from: The Pampered Chef Rice Cooker PlusI have owned this product for over three years and have never had a problem with it. It cooks rice to perfection and I wouldn't make a rice dish without it. It doesn't spill over and cleans right up in the dishwasher. I'm planning on buying three of them as gifts this Christmas....This review is from: The Pampered Chef Rice Cooker PlusI ordered the Pampered Chef rice cooker at a party and used it for the first time tonight. Cooked wild rice (prepackaged Uncle Ben's style with seasoning packet) and it was awesome! Cooked just right, no standing water on top, cooked evenly, did not boil over, no white crusties on my pot/lid/stovetop. And it stayed hot! I don't cook rice much, but I will be cooking it more now. I'm looking forward to steaming veggies and cooking other things in it. Definitely worth the money. Great gift for the busy mom, newlywed, the not-so-great cook......

3 Cups Indirect Heating Rick Cooker

Panasonic Srg06fg Automatic Rice Cooker 3 Cup Non-Stick Interior Shutoff Glass Lid Keep Warm.

Automatic rice cooker; automatic shutoff.

Keep warm function; non-stick interior.

Keep warm function; non-stick interior. includes glass lid; 3-cup uncooked rice capacity.

100% genuine brand names.

This review is from: 3 Cups Indirect Heating Rick CookerIf you are looking for a small rice cooker with a stainless steel pot rather than aluminum or non-stick coating, this is it. Makes one to three cups of rice (white or brown), has a smaller footprint on the counter than a blender, and there's nothing fancy in the construction to go wrong. Came beautifully and carefully boxed, quicker than expected....no complaints whatsoever. It works like those counter-top egg boilers: in addition to adding water to the one to three cups of raw rice - using the fill lines embossed in the pot as your guide - you then use their measuring cup to add a smaller amount of water under the pot. The cooker will sense when this water has boiled dry and turn off the active heating element; the pot will be kept warm for 2 hours after that unless the unit is unplugged. For brown rice, put double the water you would for white rice underneath. It's that simple....This review is from: 3 Cups Indirect Heating Rick CookerI usually donot provide any feedback on products online. I am so pleased with this rice cooker. It cooks rice great and rice doesnot burn at all. No chemicals leaching into food. Cooker is make very sturdy. No cooking water is spilling inspite of its small size....

This review is from: Black & Decker RC426 Rice Cooker, WhiteThis is the best priced and easiest to use rice cooker. It has a serving spoon, measuring cup, and holder for glass top. Makes enough rice for individual or family. It's idiot-proof. I am uniquely qualified to make that statement....This review is from: Black & Decker RC426 Rice Cooker, WhiteI love to make stir-fry but cooking the rice was always a pain. I prefer using the healthier brown rice which is even harder to cook. After some debate I finally decided to try one of these and I wish I'd had made the decision a long time ago! Just measure your rice using the included measure and add water to the line. Add any desired seasonings and press "Cook". When the cooking is finished it automatically switches to "Warm" to keep your rice warm as long as desired. Perfect fluffy rice everytime without timing or watching. Well worth the modest price. The only thing I might change is perhaps a bell to let you know when it's done....This review is from: Black & Decker RC426 Rice Cooker, WhiteOwned two of this model in the last 18 months. Used about once per week. In both cases during mid-cook, cooker started to have a burnt electrical smell then the cooker stopped working....
