Rival CKRVRCM061-NP 6 Cup Easy Clean Non-Stick Rice Cooker White

This review is from: Rival CKRVRCM061-NP 6 Cup Easy Clean Non-Stick Rice Cooker WhiteTo comment on lakhi's one star review, he/she may have gotten a "lemon".I've owned my Rival 6 cup for well over a year. Still looks as good as the day I bought it.Breakfast: I make oatmeal in it almost every morning: oats, water, chopped apples, cinnamon, raisens, Vermont maple syrup - cook, slide out into a bowl, wipe the cooking bowl out with a soaped up sponge, and it's clean. Couldn't be happier. I set it and forget it while I get ready in the a.m.Lunch: If I want to whip up some rice to have with my canned soup: put rice and some broth from a can or carton to give the rice more flavor. When the rice is done, scoop some out and add to your canned soup = a hearty lunch.Dinner: Make the rice with broth (like lunch), cook some frozen stir fry veggies, add some cooked chicken, viola! Chicken and veggie stir fry (season of course to taste). Anything leftover for rice goes in a container to be used in another meal. No need to buy an expensive rice cooker, they are nice to have, but this one works great and you can spend the extra money on rice!...This review is from: Rival CKRVRCM061-NP 6 Cup Easy Clean Non-Stick Rice Cooker WhiteMy son gave us a 20 cup Aroma Rice Cooker for Christmas and absolutely raved about it. That size is fine for him because he has a wife and four kids with healthy appetites. However, after using the 20 cup Aroma rice cooker a couple of times and having oodles of beautifully cooked brown rice left over, (we are a 2 person household), I realised that my frustration was not due to the rice cooker, which works great, but the sheer SIZE of the blankety blank thing. So I went shopping and found this little Rival 6 cup rice cooker. Since there are only two in our household, 3 cups of anything is the perfect size for us. (I tend to follow my first husband's dictum on capacity. i.e. if you want 3 cups, buy a 6 cup cooker, if you want 6 cups buy a 12 cup cooker and so on.) Anyway, it also happens that my present spouse adores home-cooked steel cut oatmeal, but it's an absolute pain to make on the stove. While cruising around the Net I found a recipe from another user for this size rice cooker and decided to give it a try. The oatmeal recipe for one person, (I'm not an oatmeal fan myself), is as follows: 1/4 cup steel cut oatmeal (we started with McCann's but are presently using Quaker's), 1 and 1/4 cups liquid, (can be part milk, apple juice or whatever), a splash of syrup, a pinch of cinnamon, a pinch of salt, a few raisins and a teaspoon of butter. Once all the ingredients are in, I give it a stir with the paddle, set it on "Cook" and, 15 minutes later, have perfect oatmeal! (My spouse likes to leave it on the "Warm" setting for another 10 minutes or so and has been absolutely raving about it.) I've made brown rice using the same measurements in this little cooker and it's been absolutely primo. However, attempting to prepare more than 3 cups at a time in this particular cooker would, in my personal opinion, be pushing it.For my purposes, I'm giving this rice cooker five stars and am thinking of giving it as a Christmas gift to family and friends....This review is from: Rival CKRVRCM061-NP 6 Cup Easy Clean Non-Stick Rice Cooker WhiteI purchased it 2 months back .........just within 10 days its nonstick coating came out.I thought 6cup rice cooker means less rice and less time but here is the catch the time for cooking is proportional to the base of the container .rival 6cup base is very small and it almost takes 40 minutes to cook just 11/2 cups of rice .It says 6cup but it is not...as per the instructions if u put 3cup of rice and 6 cup of water in it the lid of the bowl rises up ,rice gets a dome shape and it will be very tough for you to serve ....
