This review is from: Sunpentown SC-889 10-Cup Stainless-Steed Rice Cooker and SteamerFor the health, we really like to buy one rice cooker with a stainless steel inner pot. So we found this one finally. After several tries, we can cook brown rice and it turns out OK. But when we tried to use it to steam vegetable, it is totally disaster. The green all turned to yellow. We also do not like the design - you have to add water between inner pot and outer shell. It is very difficult to clean up. The design also makes it very hard to remove the inner pot when it has full of hot liquid. And it does not come with a steam plate. Usually, other rice cookers do provide one. It is overpriced. I will try the Stainless Steel Rice Cooker Model ME81 the next time. Overall, not recommended....This review is from: Sunpentown SC-889 10-Cup Stainless-Steed Rice Cooker and SteamerI bought this Sunpentown rice cooker in July 2008 at $108. After 9 months, a tiny hole was found on the bottom of the inner pot. The hole was big enough allowing liquid in and out during cooking. I had the pot replaced. However, 6 months later, same thing happened to the second inner pot. This rice cooker definitely has quality problem. I wish I didn't buy it. Now I end up with replacing the inner pot every several months or wasting $108 in 15 months.I definitely do not recommend to buy this rice cooker....This review is from: Sunpentown SC-889 10-Cup Stainless-Steed Rice Cooker and SteamerThis stainless rice cooker is realy easy to clean if you use filter water to fill the inner and outer pot so that no minerals will deposit.I always use filter water when I cook so cleaning the outer pot is not a issue to me (I only have to wipe out the extra water on the outer pot after cooking). If you use tap water, you need to use vinegar (not detergent) to clean it, but it will still have some deposits. So filter water is probably the most efficient and healthiest way to deal with the rice cooker. I really love this rice cooker because I don't have to worry about the health issue that may come from the teflon inner pot, and I can make soup, and beef stew that are not possible to be made if your rice cooker has two layers (the soup would come out so easily so you have to check it several times). I recommend this if you want to eat healthier and save your cooking time....
