This review is from: Zojirushi Micom Rice Cooker & WarmerI purchased this for a friend. I thought (at this price) it would have a stainless steel interior cooking bowl and interior. Poor assumption on my part. My friend will not eat from ANYTHING from an aluminum surface so I ended up keeping it for myself. The unit has an aluminum lid the bowl is aluminum that is coated with a non-stick surface inside and out. It is very easy to clean. It is a top quality unit no doubt, but I could have purchased a rice cooker for 1/5 the price at Costco. The interior bowl is marked for water level and you get a scoop with a prescribed size for the unit. I have cooked white rice, brown rice and steel cut oatmeal in it. For my liking the white rice needs more water than the bowl measure requests. The price is why I gave it 4 not 5 stars. UPDATE ONE YEAR LATERAfter one year of use, I can't say that there is another appliance that I have enjoyed and got so much use out of. I am a fan of this appliance beyond words. The rice is always the same, perfect. I add a little extra water for my liking....This review is from: Zojirushi Micom Rice Cooker & WarmerThe Zojirushi Micom 10-cup TGC18 is the best bang for your buck. It's so easy a child can make rice. The recoiling plug is convenient. Since it's such a nice looking appliance we just leave it on the counter like our coffee maker. The rice bowl water lines are written on the inside of the bowl to make it fool proof. I spray the non-stick cooking bowl with Pam Cooking Spray and clean up is a breeze (be sure to read the owners manual because you don't ever want to put abrasive or highly acidic ingredients, like baking soda/powder/vinegar, in any non stick pot or pan while cooking). When it comes to vinegar you can add it after you cook and transfer it into your serving bowl.You should make a minimum of two cups of rice but can make up to ten cups of rice to have on hand or use when you have dinner guests. For only a few more dollars than the 5-cup model, it's worth it. The Zojirushi rice cooker gives a 15-minute countdown when there is 15 minutes left to cook so you know when it will be ready and can time the rest of your meal because it will automatically switch to and keep the rice perfect on the "keep warm" feature for hours & hours.Order "The Ultimate Rice Cooker Book" and try the recipe on page 67. It is so good! You can make whole meals, rice puddings, and this model even makes cake (cheesecake and sponge cake recipes are in the user manual not the cookbook). I cannot wait to make cake in this thing! We have so many excellent new meals that we can now make for ourselves and for company. I love to make Coconut Rice, Creamy Arborio Rice Pudding, Steak Tips with Gravy over White Basmati Rice with Button Mushrooms and Peas (that one is my creation) and coming soon... Rice Cooker Paella! By the way, this is the only rice cooker model that you can make cheesecake and sponge cake with (this and its 5-cup version model NS-TGC10). I cannot wait to bake a cake in my Zojirushi Rice Cooker in the summer and not have to put my oven. The Zojirushi Micom 10-cup TGC18 is seriously the most versatile kitchen appliance that I NEVER realized I CANNOT live without. Go get one and buy The Ultimate Rice Cooker cookbook. You'll love it!...
