It is not stainless steel, It is aluminum chemically treated to look black. Why can't they just say aluminum. Lot of money for an aluminum rice pot that you can get for $20.00. Sent it back. If you are looking for a stainless steel rice cooking pot, this is not the one you want. I give it one star cause I can't go any lower. Signed up for the Oyama rice cooker which says is 100% stainless steel cooking surfaces. Will see when it arrives....
