Panasonic's cooker comes close but still needs to be "controlled". If left on the "keep warm" setting for any length of time, you'll get crusty, hard, brittle rice. I did 2 batches initially after taking the cooker out of the box, and I figured out how to get what I want, fluffy,sticky, steamed rice, and lots of it! As soon as the automatic switch from "cook" to "keep warm" takes place, unplug the unit immediately. It does require monitoring in that regard, but I usually have 17 minutes of other food prep or stuff to do while the rice is cooking. I left it on the "keep warm" setting inadvertantly for about 2 or 3 minutes once and the "bad effects" were already beginning.It's an excellent vegetable steamer also.I would buy Panasonic again unless I knew of some other machine that worked better....This review is from: Panasonic SRTE15PS Rice Cooker / Steamer / WarmerI had great hopes for this rice cooker from all the reviews that I read. My family eats rice everyday, so a reliable rice cooker is a must. Unfortunately, this Panasonic rice cooker was a great disappointment. No matter how much I adjusted the amount of water, the rice (white) was always perfect at the top portion and the middle was soggy. I noticed that the rice under the area where the steam vent was located, was especially soggy. Don't even try to keep the rice "warm" for more than a few hours, or you'll have brown soggy rice.I did like the appearance of the rice cooker, especially since it matched my stainless steel appliances. Other than that, I don't have much postive feedback. I had a Zojurushi rice cooker for 8 years, that cooked perfect white rice, but I wanted something to match my stainless steel appliances and couldn't find one other than in white....
